10.22.23

Dearest B.,

An airplane flies overhead. Cars and trucks roll down the highway.

Crickets have managed to continue yammering on to one another despite the chill that has kissed the early night air.

I close my eyes.

I take a deep and long breath in and out and try to let go…but it’s just so difficult.

You are on my mind again.

I wonder where you are and what you are doing.

I think about what we once were and who we are today. I wonder where everything went wrong.

I think about you every time I find myself really alone.

When I think about you, I feel myself getting sad. And then I realize that I have no choice but to let go and move forward, so I get up, shake off the cold air and leave the night behind me.

I leave you behind.
